Debbie Morgan is an African-American actress born September 20, 1956 in Dunn, North Carolina. She had a small family while she was growing up. Her father George Morgan worked as a butcher. Her mother, Lora Morgan worked as a teacher. She had a younger sister named Terry. Her parents had middle class jobs but they were in stark contrast to each other. While her mom was at school teaching students through education, her father was at a shop butchering animals. They did all they could though to raise Debbie and her sister. When Deborah was only 3 months old, her family moved to New York City. In 1964, her father died and her mother Lora Morgan had to raise two daughters alone.
Raising two daughters was difficult for the single African-American mother. Things were already tough for black people in the 1960s. Being a single person would have been a hard task in itself. Having to raise kids on top of it made life a challenge. Lora was able to fight through the hard times so that she could be a role model for her two young girls.
Attending a parochial school, Debbie was interested in acting and starred in the musical "A Midsummer Night's Dream". Getting over her father’s death through acting was a good starting point for Debbie. Many African-American kids had to grow up without a father. Usually it was because oak tragedy or the father abandoned the family. Debbie used the loss as motivation to succeed in life. When she was 15, Morgan was involved in the shooting of a film called Cry Uncle, where she played Olga Winter. Her first major film role in the movie industry was in the film Mandingo (1975). Mandingo was a landmark film because it portrayed the black man as a dominant sexual creature. Hollywood had not been used to the image yet and it was seen as controversial. The public was not ready for the film and it is still considered to be a taboo film to this day.
After appearing in Mandingo, Debbie followed up her movie career with a long string of roles in films and television series like: Amazing Grace (1974), Taxi Driver (1976), The Monkey Hu$tle (1976), Good Times (1976), What's Happening!! (1976-1977), The Love Boat (1978), Roots: The Next Generations (1979).
However, her most successful role was in the TV series All My Children, where she played Angie Baxter Hubbard. During her 12 years of staring in this soap opera, Debbi Morgan has received not only the love of the huge number of viewers, but also numerous awards for her excellent performances. In 1989, she won the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series (the same award in 1989 received the Nancy Lee Grahn for her role in the famous soup opera Santa Barbara); in 2009 shoe won Gracie Award; and twice (in 2009 and 2010) she won NAACP Image Award. The NAACP award was a huge honor for her because she was a proud black woman in the entertainment industry.

In 1996, Morgan was nominated for an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Daytime Drama Series for her role in the TV series “The City”. Winning multiple NAACP awards was a huge milestone for Morgan. She took pride in being recognized for her work by her peers and the African-American community. In 1997 she received a Chicago Film Critics Association Award for Best Supporting Actress for her outstanding work in the film Eve's Bayou.
Than Debbi actively took part in the television industry. Among TV her roles, the most known are: Lynette Van Adams in the TV series “Soul Food”, Lora Gibson in the series “For the People”, The Seer in the mystical series “Charmed” and Harmony Hamilton in “The Young and the Restless”. Currently, she works in the popular FOX television series “Power”.
During her life, Debbi Morgan earned a reputation of a black woman who has achieved all by her own. She grew up with only a single mother after her father had passed away. It was a tough upbringing but it only made her stronger and more capable to handle things out in the world. She became a role model to millions of black women across America. Together with her husband Jesse Hubbard in the soap opera “All My Children”, played by Darnell Williams, they formed a union that got a nickname that was deemed the First African-American "supercouple". Debbi Morgan is quite a wealthy woman, her net worth is estimated at 12.5 million dollars. All her hard from acting had truly paid off. She was able to have her own rags to riches story.
The personal life of Debbi was no less tumultuous than her career. Her first husband was Charles Weldon. They married in 1980 and remained married until 1984. Her next lover as actor Charles Dutton. Debbie was linked to Charles and his love for five years. After Charles, she met Donn Thompson, but in 2000 they also divorced. Currently Debbi is married to Jeffrey Winston. Despite her four marriages, she doesn’t have kids. The lack of kids in her life may be due to the situation she had with her father and mother. She had the fear of having to raise kids on her own like her mother did. Even though she loves Jeffrey, she could never be too sure of the future. She has enough resources to support kids on her own if that was needed. But she can’t be sure that there will be a father in their lives. Having a father is more important than having money. She still is proud though and will be ready to have kids at some point in her life.
