He started his professional cooking career immediately after his college years. At first, he worked for a stromboli restaurant and bar called Stuff Yer Face in New Jersey.
After the stint in New Jersey, he studied in London and took a valuable lesson from Chef Marco Pierre White. Since that time under Chef Marco, Mario has undergone a culinary transformation which prepared him to cut into New York’s Italian cuisine with his own unique style and signature taste. He also served as a sous chef at the Four Seasons Biltmore restaurant. During the early 90s he worked at Italian restaurants like Rocco’s and Pó, both are located in New York City.
Susi also cooks very well but not at the level of her husband. She says that the years spent with her talented husband has been a master cooking class. She was able to observe his process and the secrets of his culinary skills.
In 2016, Batali was invited by US president Barrack Obama to cook for him. Feeling honored by being allowed such an opportunity, Batali could not afford not to tag Susi along. He needed time alone to prepare because he did want to mess up.
Great Team
The love Susi and her husband share is still going strong for many reasons. Since the two enjoy cooking, they spend a lot of time in the kitchen having fun as they cook each other tasty delicacies. Being the celebrity professional chef he is, Susi’s husband taught her the ropes. This fun ritual between the couple is one that is truly adorable and admirable.

As a professional chef, Susi’s husband, Batali, has many standards and requirements that he requires any kitchen that he works in. One such standard is working in a spacious kitchen. Batali has translated this feature from his professional kitchen to his home kitchen. Susi and her husband resorted to restructuring two of their apartments in Manhattan, New York so that they could have more space to the kitchen. During this time, the couple lived in Manhattan.
Susi had two apartments combined and created enough room to match her husband’s desire. The newly created kitchen laid on 200 square feet making it larger than many kitchens in restaurants. Since Susi’s family enjoys cooking, having a kitchen of that size enables them to often invite friends over and prepare meals together. Such hospitality has earned Susi and her husband many friends and appreciation.
