Mario Batali

Born on September 19, 1960 to father Armandino Batali and mother Marilyn Batali in Seattle situated in Washington, Mario Francesco Batali spent most of his childhood days growing up in Seattle. He completed his education from the Rutgers University situated in New Brunswick, New Jersey. His interest in cooking developed at a very young age and he started his practice in traditional Italian cuisine. After his graduation from the Rutgers University, he enrolled in Le Cordon Bleu for some time, but left it in favor of working with the famous Chef Marco Pierre White. He worked and learned from him for many years and after gaining enough experience, he shifted to New York.

He has a lot of experience and at the young age of 27, he worked at the popular Four Seasons Biltmore. He has also worked as a sous chef at the Four Seasons Clift Hotel situated in San Francisco, United States of America. After this, he started his job at the Rocco’s, an Italian Restaurant. The most important point in his career came in the year 1993, when he went on to open his own restaurant named Po. The restaurant became very popular and was a great success. It was the popularity of this restaurant which helped in Mario’s screen debut. He started working for the television series Molto Mario in the year 1996. The show aired on the Food Network and was very popular. He then established another Italian restaurant named Babbo Ristorante e Enoteca with Joe Bastianich in United States of America. This restaurant also became very popular and received a lot of appreciation. He again teamed up with Joe Bastianich to open many more restaurants around the New York City. The most popular as well as appreciated restaurants out of these seven is the Del Posto which has received many awards also.

Currently, he is the owner of many restaurants in New York, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Singapore, Chicago and Hong Kong. He is closely related to The Lunchbox Fund that aims to provide daily meal to schools in South Africa. He is also the founder of the Mario Batali Foundation which aims to provide education and food for children. He is also associated with the Food Bank which provides food for the vulnerable population of the city. He has appeared in many television shows which include Mediterranean Mario, Mario Eats Italy, Ciao America, ICA: All-Star special, Mario, FULL BOIL, Spain…on the Road Again, Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations, The Daily Show, Saturday Night Live, The Chew and Good Morning America.

He is very popular for his recipes and has written various books like The Babbo Cookbook, Molto Italiano and Molto Batali: Simple Family Meals from My Home to Yours. He is married to Susi Cahn. Batali and his wife are proud parents of two kids named Leo Batali and Benno Batali. He currently resides in Greenwich Village with his family and have a loving relationship with his wife.
