Born on September 19, 1960 to father Armandino Batali and mother Marilyn Batali in Seattle situated in Washington, Mario Francesco Batali spent most of his childhood days growing up in Seattle. He completed his education from the Rutgers University situated in New Brunswick, New Jersey. His interest in cooking developed at a very young age and he started his practice in traditional Italian cuisine.
