Sutton Foster is an American singer, dancer and actress who is most well known for her performances on Broadway for which she has received two Tony Awards for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical. Sutton Foster was born March 18, 1975, in Statesboro, Georgia. Foster was raised in Michigan and when she was fifteen, became a contestant on Star Search. Foster left high school before graduating to join the national tour of The Will Rogers Follies. She earned her high school degree via correspondence courses and attended Carnegie Mellon University for one year before leaving to pursue a theatrical career.
Sutton has many theatrical credits to her name including performances in Little Women, Young Frankenstein, They’re Playing our Song, Violet, The Wild Party, Sweet Charity, and Thoroughly Modern Millie. She has also appeared in films, Shrek the Musical, The Angriest Man in Brooklyn; as well as on television, Royal Pains, The Good Wife. Sutton Foster met her first husband, Christian Borle, in college. The couple was married on September 18, 2006, but they were divorced by 2010. She married her second husband, screenwriter Ted Griffin, on October 25, 2014. The couple adopted a baby girl in 2017 named Emily Dale Griffin.
