Personal Life
Tammy Rivera became engaged to famed rapper Juaquin James Malphurs, also known as Waka Flocka Flame in 2013. Rivera married the rapper a year later on May 25, 2014.
On July 1, 2005, Tammy gave birth to her first child, a daughter that she named Charlie. Although Waka Flocka Flame is not Charlie's biological father, he has helped raise her.
Being Married to a Mega Rapper
Tammy’s husband, Juaquin James Malphurs’ was born and raised in South Jamaica, Queens, New York. His mother is Debra Antney, the Chief Executive Officer of Mizay Entertainment and former manager of Radric Davis, a famous rapper best known for his stage name Gucci Mane. Waka moved to Atlanta, Georgia, and he still maintains his residence there.
Waka started his career as a rap musician in 2008 and he is still working in the music industry. Malphurs received the nickname Waka from a cousin of his. It seems like it was given because of the well-known catch phrase of beloved Muppet character, Fozzie the Bear. The catch phrase is a loud “Waka Waka”. It was his mentor Gucci Mane, who gave him the second part of what would become his stage name, Flocka Flame.
He became famous one year after starting his music career, when his single “O Let's Do It” went up in the United States Billboard Hot 100, ranking in the sixty-second position. A year later, he realized his first album Flockaveli was a great debut when it was ranked sixth in the United States Billboard 200.
In 2011, he collaborated with Canadian rapper Aubrey Drake Graham, best known for his stage name Drake. He announced his third album titled Flockaveli 2 would be released in 2013. The following year he released Re-Up, a mixtape. He has had a lot of milestones in his music career including a collab with DJ Whoo Kid, whose birth name is Yves Mondesir.
Waka was shot back in 2010 when he suffered a robbery and assault when he was at a car wash in Atlanta. He mourned for the suicide of his younger brother, Caodes Scott in 2013. His brother was also a rapper, known for his stage name KayO Redd. He was found in his house in Henry County, Atlanta. On another negative note for Waka, in 2011 his house was raided and he was booked for possession of hydrocodone, a firearm, and marijuana.
Aside from his music career, Waka has also collaborated with the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals when he participated in a boycott against the killing of animals and the use of fur. He posed nude for that cause to show how much he was dedicated to it.
