Terry Farrell, born Theresa Lee Farrell on November 19, 1963, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is an American actress and former fashion model. At the age of sixteen, standing nearly six feet tall, she submitted her photo to the Elite Modeling Agency in New York City. Soon after, she was invited to New York and secured an exclusive contract with the women's magazine Mademoiselle.
During the early part of her career, Farrell modeled for approximately eighteen months. She appeared on the covers of the Italian and German editions of Vogue and was also featured in several editorial spreads of the American edition. Her modeling work established her presence in the fashion industry, paving the way for a transition into acting.
In 1989, Terry Farrell began pursuing acting more seriously, studying with renowned acting coach Stella Adler. She quickly gained television roles, including appearances on Quantum Leap and The Cosby Show.
Farrell rose to prominence for her portrayal of Jadzia Dax on the science fiction television series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. She played the popular character for six seasons, from 1993 to 1998, and earned a devoted fanbase within the Star Trek universe.
After leaving Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Farrell transitioned to comedy and co-starred alongside Ted Danson in the CBS sitcom Becker. She appeared on the show from 1998 to 2002, showcasing her range beyond science fiction and expanding her television career in the process.
Terry Farrell has been married twice. Her first marriage was to actor Brian Baker in 2002. The couple later divorced in 2015. In March 2018, she married Adam Nimoy in San Francisco. Adam is the son of the late Leonard Nimoy, famously known for portraying Spock in the Star Trek franchise—not Star Wars, as is sometimes mistakenly reported.
In addition to her work in television and fashion, Terry Farrell remains a notable figure at science fiction conventions and fan events, especially those celebrating the legacy of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
