<a href="/biography/tim-daly">James Timothy Daly</a> was born on March 1, 1956 in New York City and is famous for being an entertainer. He is an American <a href="/biography/tim-daly">voice actor</a>, director and stage actor. He is known for doing the voice for Superman in the popular kids show, Superman: The animated series.

Background

Both the father and mother of Tim were once actors. His father was <a href="/biography/tim-daly">James Daly</a> while his mother is Mary Hope Daly. Tyne Daly, is the older sister of Tim and is also an actor. Acting seems to run in the Daly family. Apart from Tyne, he has two other sisters, Mary Glynn and Pegeen Michael. Mary is the wife of <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Snow">Mark Snow</a>.

His father was best recognized for his character as Dr. Paul Lochner in the drama series called Medical Center. He acted as the superior to <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chad_Everett">Chad Everett</a>. During his acting career, he won various awards and got many nominations. The series “Medical Center” ended and two years later, he died of a heart failure in Nyack, New York. His ashes were thrown into the Atlantic Ocean

Tim attended the Putney School and this was where he began his study in acting. He later went to Bennington College, located in Bennington, Vermont. In 1979, after the completion of his college program, he was awarded with a Bachelor’s Degree in Theater and Literature. He eventually went back to New York to further develop his study in acting and singing.

Acting Career

He had the dream of becoming a sport personality or dive into music. He also had the ambition of becoming a lawyer or a doctor, but in the end he decided on going for acting. Tim started his acting career at age seven on a stage. He acted with his two sisters and his parents in “Jenny Kissed Me”. Three years later, he made his first appearance on television in an American Playhouse adaption by <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henrik_Ibsen">Henrik Ibsen</a> known as “An Enemy of the People”. This film also included his father in the cast.

His professional acting career began in 1978 in the play “Equus”, which was an adaptation of <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Shaffer">Peter Shaffer</a>’s play. The first movie, which he was the lead role was in “Diner”. This film was directed by <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barry_Levinson">Barry Levinson</a>. Other actors that acted in this movie include <a href="/biography/mickey-rourke">Mickey Rourke</a> and <a href="/biography/kevin-bacon">Kevin Bacon</a>.

In the sitcom “Wings”, he co-starred with <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steven_Weber">Steven Weber</a> and this show ran between the 19th of April, 1990 and the 14th of May, 1997 on NBC. In the sitcom, he and <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steven_Weber">Steven</a> acted as brothers, Joe and Brian Hackett. Apart from this, he has starred in many movies and sitcoms, which have made up a very long resume. He has had years of experience because of all the credits that he has built up during his long and fruitful career.

Personal Life

In 1982, he got married to <a href="/biography/amy-van-nostrand">Amy Van Nostrand</a> but they get divorced in 2010 after decades of marriage. This union was at least blessed with two children. According to reports, Tim was very vulnerable and weak after the divorce and this made him try to seek solace from the services of a therapist. He became more than a man and added the role of being a single father after the separation with his wife.

He was very fond of his kids and after the separation moved out of the house. His first child is San Daly while his only daughter is Emelyn Daly. He wanted a situation where both of them will be dependent on him after the divorce, but this didn’t go as planned.

This divorce was something that was too much for him to bear or handle. His ex-wife <a href="/biography/amy-van-nostrand">Amy</a> on the other side was different. After the separation, she was mature and strong about the situation. To avoid dealing with the stress of divorce, he indulged himself in the world of gardening.
