His father, James Daly, was an Emmy Award-winning actor best known for his role as Dr. Paul Lochner in the television drama “Medical Center.” His mother, Mary Hope Daly, was also an actress. His sister, Tyne Daly, is an Emmy and Tony Award-winning actress, further emphasizing the family's theatrical roots. Tim also has two other sisters, Mary Glynn and Pegeen Michael Daly. Mary Glynn Daly is married to composer Mark Snow, known for his work on “The X-Files.”

Daly's breakout film role came in 1982 with Barry Levinson’s “Diner,” where he played the lead alongside a cast that included Mickey Rourke and Kevin Bacon. Television Success and Voice Acting

Daly gained widespread recognition for his role as Joe Hackett on the NBC sitcom “Wings,” which aired from April 19, 1990, to May 14, 1997. Starring alongside Steven Weber, Daly portrayed one half of a brother duo running a small airline in Nantucket. The show enjoyed steady popularity during its run and remains a fan favorite.

In addition to his on-screen work, Daly is well known for voicing Superman/Clark Kent in "Superman: The Animated Series" (1996–2000), a role that earned him admiration from fans of the DC Comics universe.
