Tom Burke is an English actor who was born on June 30, 1981, in London, England, United Kingdom. His full name is Tom Liam Benedict Burke and he grew up in Kent with his parents David Burke and Anna Calder-Marshall. Both of Burke's parents were also actors, including his godparents, Alan Rickman, and Bridget Turner. Burke was born with a cleft lip but it was repaired with surgery. From a young age, he always wanted to follow in his family's footsteps and become an actor but he had the challenge of being diagnosed with dyslexia.
He attended the National Youth Theatre and the Young Arden Theatre in Faversham. Burke also attended the Box Clever Theatre Company and performed at the Marlowe Theatre in Canterbury. Burke eventually left school at age 17 and applied to an acting agency. He landed the very first role he auditioned for. Burke also attended dance school before switching to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art when he was 18. His film debut came in 1999's "Dragonheart: A New Begining" where he played the character of Roland. He went on to appear in the British medical drama "Dangerfield" and the television movie "All the King's Men". Burke graduated from the Royal Academy and has been working in the film and television industry ever since.
