Tom Foreman studied at the Troy University situated in Alabama, where he graduated magna cum laude. He received a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism and also Theater Performance. He is an avid ultra-marathoner taking part in long distance races of over fifty miles frequently.
Profession
Foreman was interested in reporting when he was in high school itself. He worked at a small radio station located in Alabama. After graduation, he started working at WSFA in Alabama and then for WWL-TV. He worked as reporter for ABC News for 10 years, based from its Denver bureau. He later shifted to Washington as senior anchor at National Geographic. He was managing editor at Inside Base Camp. He won an Emmy Award as best interviewer for the show. Foreman also works for the series American Journey. Foreman started his career at CNN in the year 2004 at the Washington bureau covering different varieties of topics and reports including appearance in the shows The Lead , Anderson Cooper360 º, and The Situation Room.
Important Assignments
During his broadcasting career, Foreman has travelled and reported from all the fifty states in the country and also to twenty foreign countries. He has covered America’s Choice 2012, the Gulf Oil Spill, Hurricane Katrina, Twin Tower attacks, 2008 presidential campaign, and the primary as well as caucus nights of the election cycle in 2012.
Awards
Foreman and his team have been honored with the Walter Cronkite Award in 2013 for the work done on the Network’s fact checking initiative. He received two Emmy Awards and the National Headliner award for his feature on the American soldier who had brought the Christmas spirit to Luxembourg during the Second World War.
Through the series American Journey, Foreman gives a view of how the businesses, communities, and individuals should try to become advanced and sophisticated in spite of the downward trend of the economy. He also writes a weekly column in the newspaper and has written over 1400 open letters to President Barack Obama on CNN’s website CNN.com. He also anchors the ‘Year in Review’ show done by CNN on New Year’s Eve.
