El Dasa, born Dasahev López Saavedra, is a Mexican singer from Hermosillo, Sonora. From a young age, he demonstrated notable musical talent. At just 15 years old, he became the lead singer of Banda Costa Azul, a local band based in Hermosillo.

Move to Los Angeles and Breakthrough with Vicente Fernández

At the age of 18, El Dasa emigrated to Los Angeles to pursue greater opportunities in music. There, he found work as a driver for the legendary Mexican singer Vicente Fernández. During this time, he sang for Fernández, who was deeply impressed by his voice. So much so, that Fernández invited El Dasa to join him on stage at the Gibson Amphitheatre, where they performed a duet of “Amor de los Dos.” During the performance, Fernández publicly encouraged the audience to support El Dasa’s budding career.

El Vato: A Career-Defining Television Role

El Dasa's life inspired the NBC Universo television series "El Vato," marking his acting debut. The Spanish-language dramedy, produced by Endemol Shine Latino and Boomdog, follows a fictionalized version of El Dasa’s journey from Mexico to Los Angeles in pursuit of a music career. The series, consisting of 10 episodes, blends humor and drama to reflect the challenges and aspirations of an up-and-coming artist navigating the Los Angeles entertainment industry. Shot in both Los Angeles and Mexico, the show emphasizes El Dasa’s versatility as both an actor and a performer.
