Early Life and Education

Elita Loresca was born in 1977 in the Philippines. She moved to the United States with her family when she was 10 months old and was raised in Chino and Los Angeles, California. Although born in the Philippines, she holds American nationality and is of Filipino ethnicity.

Elita pursued a journalism degree at California State University, Fullerton. She later earned a Certificate of Broadcast Meteorology from Mississippi State University. During her school years, she enjoyed sports, including playing football recreationally.

Broadcasting and Meteorology Career

Loresca began her career in broadcasting at KCBS-TV in Los Angeles, where she worked behind the scenes operating the teleprompter and managing scripts. She then advanced to on-air roles, working as a weather anchor for KGET-TV in Bakersfield and KGPE-TV in Fresno, California.

Elita gained national recognition for her weather coverage while contributing reports to the National Hurricane Center during major storms, including Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Rita, and Hurricane Wilma. In 2007, she joined NBC 4 in Miami as a meteorologist, continuing to build her experience in forecasting severe weather events and climate phenomena.

Community Involvement and Volunteer Work

In addition to her broadcasting career, Loresca has been active in community service. She has volunteered with organizations such as The National Alliance to Nurture the Aged and the Youth (NANAY) and Habitat for Humanity, reflecting her commitment to civic responsibility and community development.
