Early Life and Background

Born on July 26, 1988, in Southern California, Francia Raisa is the daughter of radio personality Maximo Renan Almendarez Coello (known professionally as El Cucuy De La Mañana) and Virginia Almendarez. Of Honduran and Mexican descent, Raisa developed a passion for dance at the age of five. Her early interest in performance arts expanded to modeling and acting by junior high school, eventually leading her to roles in commercials and TV appearances.

Breakthrough and Recognition

Raisa's career breakthrough came with the 2006 cheerleading comedy Bring It On: All or Nothing, in which she played Leti opposite Hayden Panettiere. She gained further acclaim for her portrayal of Adrian Lee in the ABC Family drama The Secret Life of the American Teenager, which ran from 2008 to 2013. The role earned her several accolades, including a Gracie Award and the La Femme Film Festival’s Rising Star Award in 2012. She was also nominated for prestigious honors including the IMAGEN and ALMA Awards.

Film and Television Career

Raisa built her resume with supporting and lead roles across various films and TV series. She starred as Isabelle in Shredderman Rules (2007), which aired on Nickelodeon and garnered strong viewership. She later took on the lead role of Alejandra Delgado in ABC Family’s skating drama The Cutting Edge: Chasing the Dream and its follow-up, Fire and Ice, released in 2008. In addition to her work in film and television, Raisa has appeared in music videos, including Lil’ Romeo’s “My Girlfriend” and Iyaz’s “So Big.”
