Frankie Boyle is a Scottish comedian and writer who was born on August 16, 1972, in Pollokshaws, Glasgow, Scotland to an Irish Catholic family. Boyle attended Holyrood Secondary School in Glasgow before becoming a library assistant. He went on to attend Langside College and then studied Urban Planning at Aston University where he stayed for a year before switching to the University of Sussex. Boyle graduated from university at age 22 with a BA in English Literature. From there, Boyle attended a college for teachers in Edinburgh but soon quit to pursue his stand-up comedy career which was already showing signs of success.

Boyle's stand-up career took off after performing at "The Stand Comedy Club" in Edinburgh where several other prominent comedians such as Stewart Lee and Michael McIntyre also got their start. In 2005, Boyle became a permanent panelist for the BBC comedy series "Mock the Week" and he performed on the show until September of 2009. The same year, Boyle piloted a stand-up comedy show for Channel 4 called "Deal with This, Retards". In 2011, Boyle was given his own topical talk show called "Frankie Boyle's Rehabilitation Programme". The series became a success and was followed by several more iterations including, "The Boyle Variety Performance", "Frankie Boyle's Autopsy Series", and "Frankie Boyle's New World Order" which is still running to this day. Boyle has two children, a daughter, and a son, both with his girlfriend, Shereen Taylor. The family currently resides in Glasgow, Scotland.
