Freddie Prinze Jr. is an American actor best known for his roles in films such as I Know What You Did Last Summer and the live-action Scooby-Doo movies. He was born as Freddie James Prinze on March 8, 1976, in Los Angeles, California. His father, Freddie Prinze, was a well-known comedian and actor, best recognized for his role in the sitcom Chico and the Man. Tragically, his father died by suicide when Freddie was just ten months old. He was subsequently raised by his mother, Katherine Elaine Cochran, and his grandmother.
Although born in Los Angeles, Freddie spent much of his childhood in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He attended several schools, including Eldorado High School, Sandia High School, and La Cueva High School. After graduating in 1994, he moved back to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting.
Prinze Jr. began his acting career shortly after relocating to Los Angeles. Although his father’s legacy brought him recognition, it was Freddie's own talent and persistence that helped him land early roles.
