Background and Age

Gerald Green was born on January 26, 1986, in Houston, TX. Growing up, Green was engaged with a mishap that left a major bit of his right ring finger cut off when he was in the sixth grade. When he tried a dunk on the basketball court, he was wearing a ring on his right ring finger. The ring got stuck onto a nail and his finger was torn.

Career and Net Worth

As he was getting ready to leave high school basketball and enter the pro basketball league, Green was thought to be one of the top players picked yet he tumbled to the Celtics, who chose him with the eighteenth pick in the draft. He attracted comparisons with former Houston Rockets star Tracy McGrady but the only team that was willing to take a chance on his raw undeveloped talent were the Celtics.

Green was one of the last players to enter the NBA from high school before there was a big rule change. The current rule is that American players who enter the NBA Draft must be one year removed from the graduation of their high school class and arrive at age 19 no later than December 31 of the scheduled year of the draft. The rule was put in place to prevent underdeveloped players from wasting their potential.

Green signed with the Houston Rockets on December 28, 2017, coming back to the franchise for a second spell. He scored a season-high 27 points in a 116–98 win over the Orlando Magic on January 3, 2018. He turned into the first player in establishment history to make at least seven 3-pointers in back to back games after he made seven against Orlando. He hit a buzzer beating three-pointer to grab a win against the Phoenix Suns on March 30, 2018. He later re-signed with the Rockets on July 10, 2018.

In a November 2019 game, the Houston Rockets got beat soundly by the surprising Miami Heat, who got a 129-100 win over the NBA title hopeful. The Rockets' head coach Mike D'Antoni didn't beat around the bush, calling his team soft while contending that they ought to have respect for the other team or end up getting run off the court.
