Background

Graham Chapman was born on January 8, 1941 in Leicester, England. He was brought into the world while a German air assault was taking place. Graham's father was a chief police examiner and most likely inspired the constables that Graham regularly depicted later in his improv shows and performances.

Graham studied medicine in school and earned a M.D., however he practiced medication for just a couple of years before making a career change.

Career

At Cambridge University, Chapman participated in a series of parody shows and soon after finishing his medicinal obligations at St. Bartholomew's Hospital, Graham acknowledged what he needed to do with his life. He needed to perform comedy and satire. In 1969, Graham alongside University friends John Cleese, Eric Idle, Michael Palin, Terry Jones and American Terry Gilliam shaped the famous comedy group called Monty Python. The formation would change their lives forever.

With Monty Python, Chapman played memorable authority figures such as the Colonel and the lead role in two Python films, Holy Grail and Life of Brian.
