Gregg Burke 

Gregg Burke is known as an American golf coach. He is most famous for being the ex-husband of Doris Burke, the popular basketball broadcaster.

Background and Age

Gregg Burke was born in Warwick, Rhode Island. He has two sisters, Cindy Burke Wiley and Karen Burke Jerozal, and a brother, Timothy Burke. He attended Pilgrim High School and continued his educating by studying Political Science at the College of the Holy Cross. He graduated with a bachelor's in 1980 and then attended Providence College. He graduated with a M.Ed in 1998.

Gregg Burke got married to his girlfriend, Doris Burke in 1990. Doris is popular in the sports world for working at ESPN college basketball, NBA on ESPN, and NBA on ABC games. As a television sports reporter and a color analyst, she was the winner of USA Today's Best New Face in Sports Television. She is also a former top college basketball player.

Gregg Burke proposed to Doris on Valentine’s Day in 1990 when they were on the Cliff Walk. In 1992, the couple had their first daughter, who they named Sarah. Their second child was born in 1995, and they decided to call him Matthew. After a few years of a happy marriage, they decided to divorce.

Career and Net Worth

Burke started his career as a Graduate Assistant at Boston College where he worked from August 1980 to January 1981. He then worked from January 1981 to April 1982 as an Assistant Director of Sports Information at the University of Michigan. In April 1982, he started working as a Sports Information Director at Holy Cross Athletics where he remained until October 1987. Burke then worked as an Associate Director of Athletics at Providence College, covering that position for more than twelve years until April 2000.

In 1999, Burke joined a group of basketball administrators in launching the International Basketball League, and he was appointed as a Vice-President of the league. He played an integral role in developing the business plan and public relations strategies while directing special events, corporate sales, licensing and merchandising staff. In 2002, Burke founded his own consulting firm, GB Productions, which included event management, client work in golf, media relations, fundraising, and business development. He ceased this activity in September 2004, when he was hired as the Deputy Director of Athletics/Head Golf Coach at the University of Rhode Island. His impact on the golf program has been evident in recruiting and fundraising.

During his career, Burke has been managing many NCAA Tournaments. He was the Tournament Manager for the 2012 “NCAA Women’s Basketball Regional”, hosted by URI. He also served as the Tournament Manager for the 1989 and 1996 editions of the “NCAA Men's Basketball Championship First and Second Rounds”, as well as the 1995 and 2000 editions of the “NCAA Hockey Championship in Providence”. He served in the United States Olympic Committee appointments to the 1987 and 1990 “Olympic Festivals”, and in the 1991 “Pan American Games” in Havana, Cuba. Burke also has been elected to numerous Atlantic 10, Big East, and ECAC committees.

Gregg Burke now lives in North Providence, Rhode Island, and works as the Deputy Director of Athletics and Head Golf Coach at the University of Rhode Island. In the years he has been a head coach, his golfers have combined to win 20 Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week awards.
