Doris Burke is known as an American sports reporter. She is most famous for work at ESPN and the NBA.
Doris Burke was born on November 24, 1965, in West Islip, New York. As an enthusiast for the game of basketball, she discovered her passion from a very early age. By the time she was a sophomore, she was playing as a point guard at Manasquan High School. A few years later, Doris started playing as a point guard at Providence.
She led the Big East in assists her senior year in 1987, and she was named the conference’s co-women’s athlete of the year that season. In 1999, Doris was even included in the Providence College Hall of Fame, and, in 2006, she was included in the New England Basketball Hall of Fame.
Doris got married to Gregg Burke. They met for the first time while she was playing in a basketball game. He was the sports information director for a women’s team, and he commented that she played aggressively. They started to spend a lot of time together and one night Doris asked Gregg if he’d like her to take him out for a beer.
Though she asked him out first, he was the one who proposed, bending one knee on the Cliff Walk on Valentine’s Day, in 1990. They got married immediately and had their first daughter in 1993. Their second child arrived in 1995.
