Television Success in Deadwood

Ian McShane is best known for his acclaimed portrayal of saloon owner Al Swearengen on the HBO television series Deadwood. The American Western drama, set in Deadwood, South Dakota, featured a large ensemble cast including characters based on historical figures like Wild Bill Hickok, Calamity Jane, and Charlie Utter. The show aired for three seasons from March 2004 to August 2006 and produced a total of 36 episodes.
