Jacob Pechenik is an American software engineer and executive producer who was born on June 16, 1972, in San Antonio, Texas, in the United States. He attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. Pechenik began his career in the software engineering field developing trading platforms for large financial firms and Fortune 500 companies. He founded the major startup called TechTrader in 1998 which designed and implemented business-to-business enterprise software. In 2003, Pechenik went on to become the CEO of YellowJacket Software which was later acquired by Intercontinental Exchange in 2008. Pechenik didn't join the film industry until 2010 when became CEO of and founder of Venture Forth Productions, a production company with a specialty in film finance.
Pechenik began dating actress Zooey Deschanel in 2013. Deschanel had just finalized her divorce from the singer of Death Cab for Cutie, Ben Gibbard. Since Pechenik is Jewish, Deschanel converted to Judaism so they could be married. Deschanel is best known for her role on the Fox television series "New Girl" as well as roles in films including "The New Guy" in 2002, "Elf" in 2003, and "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" in 2005.
