James Rothschild biography

James Rothschild belongs to the Rothschild banking family of England and was born on April 18, 1955, in Paris, France to his parents Teresa and Victor Rothschild. He is the youngest child in his family and the son of Victor Rothschild's second wife. When he was 13, Rothschild purchased a scrambler motorcycle and began racing. He went on to win the Peter Collins Memorial Trophy Race earning himself a reputation as one of the best amateur racers in the country. Rothschild attended King's College School in Cambridge before going on to attend The Leys School. In 1976, he graduated from City University in London where he studied economics, history, and archeology. He worked as a circulation manager for the literary magazine The New Review which is no longer in business. He soon set his sights higher and gained employment at his family's banking firm, N M Rothschild & Sons.

In 1990, Rothschild was promoted to chief executive of Rothschild Asset Management. He rose in the ranks once again in 1993 and became Chairman of the firm. Rothschild spent much of his time farming at his inherited farm called Rushbrooke near Bury St. Edmunds. He married Anita Patience Guinness in 1981 and went on to have three children. Rothschild died in July of 1996 and was found hanging at the Hotel Le Bristol Paris just hours after a business meeting.
