Early Life and Education

Jenna Coleman was born on April 27, 1986, in Blackpool, Lancashire, England, to parents Keith and Karen Coleman. She attended Arnold School, where she served as head girl. From a young age, she was involved in acting and became a member of a theatre company called In Yer Space. With this company, she delivered an award-winning performance in the play Crystal Clear at the Edinburgh Festival. Coleman once revealed that her first name was inspired by a character from the popular 1980s American television series Dallas.

Breakthrough Roles in Television

Jenna Coleman's professional acting career began in 2005 with her role as Jasmine Thomas in the ITV soap opera Emmerdale. Her performance quickly drew critical attention, and in 2006, she was nominated for the “Best Newcomer” award at the National Television Awards. The following year, she received a nomination in the same category at the British Soap Awards. Her popularity continued to grow, and in 2009, she earned multiple British Soap Award nominations, including “Best Actress,” “Best Dramatic Performance,” and “Sexiest Female.” That same year, she was also shortlisted for “Best Actress” at the TV Choice Awards.

Transition to Film and Voice Acting

Coleman's feature film debut came with a small role in the 2011 Marvel film Captain America: The First Avenger. She expanded her repertoire by appearing in the four-part miniseries Titanic, written by Julian Fellowes, and lending her voice to the character Melia in the English version of the video game Xenoblade Chronicles.
