Jennifer Ashton is known for being an American doctor, author, and television personality. She is most famous for being the chief health medical editor and chief medical correspondent for ABC News and their flagship program, Good Morning America.

Jennifer Lee Ashton was born on April 23, 1969 at the George Air Force Base located in the state of California. Growing up, Jennifer was a very bright child. Her intelligence convinced her parents to put her on a path to medical school. She got her medical degree from Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons. She was an excellent scholar and was named class president for four straight years at her school.

After graduation, she was honored with a respected reward called the Bartlestone Award in Pharmacology. She continued with her schooling when she decided to train in women’s health and surgery at St.Luke’s-Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City. She was given the chance to train there because the hospital was associated with her university. While there, she worked as the Administrative Chief Resident and after she finished, she was honored with the Chief Resident of the Year award.

Jennifer Ashton is a proud member of the North American Society for Pediatric and Adolescent. Her research and findings are highly respected as she has had articles published in medical journals and she has also presented at national meetings related to the medical fields of Gynecologic Oncology, General Surgery, and Critical Care.

She has a private medical practice in Englewood, New Jersey that is focused on Hygeia Gynecology. At her office, she helps women of all different backgrounds and ages with their medical and surgical gynecologic conditions. Her primary areas of treatment are Hypertension, Obesity, and Depression. Her credentials are so high that she was even hired by the Team USA medical network to assist in the treatment of female Olympians on the US team.

The thyroid plays a key role in women’s health because having an over or underactive thyroid can affect the menstrual cycle and a woman’s fertility or pregnancy. In fact, it is often THE first blood test an Ob-Gyn will do whenever a woman’s periods are irregular (either too frequent or too infrequent). Thyroid problems can be a cause of miscarriage as well and can affect the fetus if not well-managed.”

Media Personality Career

Dr. Jennifer Ashton started getting national attention when she became a regular expert guest on The Dr. Oz Show. She also appeared on the Fox News Channel as a medical contributor from 2006 to 2009. The radio show, Oprah & Friends also had her on as a guest expert.

The biggest success that Dr. Jennifer Ashton achieved regarding her media career was when she was named the Chief Medical Correspondent for ABC News. The ABC News Chief, James Goldston was excited to bring Jennifer to the team. When he announced her hiring to his staff, he mentioned that she was a great pick up because of her excellent coverage of the medical crisis during three consecutive hurricanes and she was also deep in the trenches in Houston and Puerto Rico as she spoke with first responders and medics.

During the mass shooting in Las Vegas during a concert, she was there to interview a surgeon who was treating victims for injuries. Aside from her television appearances, Jennifer has used her newfound fame to speak on women’s health issues as various conferences and events.

Jennifer Ashton got married to Robert Ashton in 1996. Their marriage lasted a long time before they eventually got divorced in 2017.
