Jessica Kelsey Amlee was born on July 17, 1994, in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Canada. She was raised in her hometown alongside her parents and older brother. Jessica is the granddaughter of P.J. Perry, an internationally acclaimed jazz saxophonist. She holds Canadian nationality and attended Kanaka Creek Elementary School in Maple Ridge. From an early age, Jessica expressed an interest in performance. She began her career appearing in national commercials for major brands such as Visa, Coca-Cola, French’s, Mattel, and Hasbro. In addition to acting, Jessica enjoys dancing.
Jessica transitioned to television at the age of seven. Her first acting role came in 2001 in the TV series Mysterious Ways, where she portrayed Annie Owen. That same year, she had minor appearances in other television series, including The Outer Limits and Dark Angel. She also had a guest role in an episode of Smallville, which starred Tom Welling.
In 2002, Jessica continued to build her early resume with appearances in shows such as Miracle Pets, where she played Merilyn, and Andromeda, Just Cause, and Jeremiah, in which she portrayed the character Rose. Notably, her character’s sibling in Miracle Pets was played by her real-life brother. That same year marked her film debut with a role as Young Julia in the horror movie They.
From 2003 to 2006, Jessica appeared in a wide range of television programs, including The Twilight Zone, Stephen King's Kingdom Hospital, Stargate: Atlantis, Urban Rush, The Collector, as well as in television films such as Last Chance Café, Absolute Zero, and Firestorm: Last Stand at Yellowstone. She earned critical praise for her performance as young Gillian Guess in the 2004 TV movie The Love Crimes of Gillian Guess. For this role, she received a Leo Award in 2005, recognizing her talent among British Columbia's television and film productions.
In addition to her TV work, Jessica played roles in several films during this period, including My Life Without Me, Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2, Eve and the Fire Horse, Reflection, The Invisible Dog, and voiced a character in Barbie and the Magic of Pegasus.
