John William Oliver was born on April 23, 1977 in Erdington, Birmingham, United Kingdom. He is the child of Carole and Jim Oliver. His father worked as a Social Worker and as a superintendent of a school. His mom was a music instructor. Since his youth, he has been an incredible enthusiast of the Liverpool F.C soccer team. As a young boy, he had big dreams of being a pro soccer player.

After finishing his primary school, Oliver went to Christ's College, Cambridge. Oliver graduated from The Christ's College with a degree in English in 1998.

Career and Net Worth

In 2001, Oliver previously appeared at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. In 2004 and 2005 he aligned with Andy Zaltzman to co-host Political Animal, with different acts playing out political material radio, the show eventually moved to BBC 4. He started to perform in little comedy clubs in the wake of moving to New York City for The Daily Show. On the Daily Show, he was a popular correspondent and was happy to be part of Jon Stewart's cast. Oliver's first standup John Oliver: Terrifying Times, appeared on Comedy Central in 2008.

Since 2014 he has been hosting Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, a late-night television show. The show has been praised for its witty and sharp breakdown of many political topics and current events. John Oliver has won numerous honors in his career. In 2009, he won the honor of Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy Series. He also won the Writers Guild of America Awards in 2009. In 2011, he won the Primetime Emmy Awards.

In July 2019, the live action version of Disney's Lion King was released. John had a featured role of doing the voice of Zazu, the bird. The movie has been met with mixed reviews. Those that are against it say remakes should be stopped while others have said that it's necessary for a new generation of viewers.

Marriage, Wife and Kids

Oliver is currently married to Kate Norley a US Army veteran who filled in as a surgeon during the war in Iraq. Kate as of now functions as a veteran rights advocate for "Vets for Freedom." After dating for a long time in 2011 Oliver and Kate finally got married. Later in 2015, the couple was honored to give birth to a boy and he was named Hudson.
