John Rocker went to the First Presbyterian Day School in Macon, Georgia. During his high school career he was a pitcher and threw three no-hitters. He started his MLB career in 1993. He was selected in 18 round of the 1993 MLB draft as a 518 overall pick. From 1993 to 1998, he played with the minor league. It was in the year 1998 when he started playing with Major League Club. He debuted his first season in 1998 with Atlanta Braves. In the first season he pitched 38 innings with 2.13 ERA. He played a role of closer followed by the injury of Kerry Ligtenberg.
