John Rocker

John Loy Rocker was born in Statesboro, Georgia, on 17th October, 1974. Rocker is a controversial MLB Player. He was suspended by the MLB for his comments in an article published in the Sports Illustrated. He wrote his auto biography titled as “Scars and Strikes” in the year 2012. It is memoir of his life and baseball career. In American MLB he played baseball as a relief pitcher. John Rocker is more famous about his views on America’s diverse culture due to migrants and foreigners. He is said to be a racist due to his statements. Rocker is also an actor for survivor. Career with MLB

John Rocker went to the First Presbyterian Day School in Macon, Georgia. During his high school career he was a pitcher and threw three no-hitters. He started his MLB career in 1993. He was selected in 18 round of the 1993 MLB draft as a 518 overall pick. From 1993 to 1998, he played with the minor league. It was in the year 1998 when he started playing with Major League Club. He debuted his first season in 1998 with Atlanta Braves. In the first season he pitched 38 innings with 2.13 ERA. He played a role of closer followed by the injury of Kerry Ligtenberg. Rocker was involved in many controversies in his career.

He was demoted in 2002 as he threatened a reporter. Due to tough criticism from fans, Rocker’s performance saw a decline. He was later traded with Cleveland Indians. In the next year he was traded to the Texas Rangers. After being released from the Texas, he signed contract with Tampa Bay Devil Rays in 2003. He was soon released by the Devil Rays too. In fact 2003 was the last season appearance of Rocker with MLB. In his career, Rocker has a win-Loss record of 13-22 with average of 3.42 runs earned, 88 saves and 332 strikeouts.

His first ever screen appearance was marked in Greenskeeper, a horror movie where he played the role of groundskeeper of a Golf Club. After this he did many movies and TV shows. He also appeared in a TV show Pros vs. Joes. In this program retired professional athletes and newcomers are seen face to face. Rocker writes columns for a website World Net Daily. This is a conservative Political Site. Due to his conservative views, he is nicknamed as red neck.

Personal Life

Apart from other controversies, he was accused of using steroid rings. He later admitted this by saying that he was using steroids as everyone is using. John Rocker, being an actor, appeared in a reality show Survivor; here he was along with his girlfriend Julia McGee. Rocker was recognized by many other players due to his negative statements. This left very bad impact. He was not judged by his games but in context of his past controversies. Due to this fact he was the third voted out participant. Julia made it to the 12th game. She was also emotionally distorted. He said that reasons pertained to the negativity faced by his boyfriend Rocker
