He is brother to Jared Kushner who is son-in-law to United States President Donald Trump by marriage to his daughter, Ivanka. Joshua graduated from Harvard College in 2008 and from the Harvard Business School in 2011. Joshua founded Thrive Capitol in 2009. The firm focuses on media and internet investments and has raised more than $750 million from investors, including Princeton University. Capital funds under the original, named Thrive II, Thrive III, and Thrive IV have also raised nearly $600 million dollars. Joshua's work with Thrive earned him a place to Forbes' 30 under 30 list.
