Joss Stone

Joss Stone is her stage name, her real name is Joscelyn Eve Stoker, but she prefers her stage name more. She is an English actress, singer and songwriter. She was born in Dover but spend most of her teenage years in Ashill, it is a small village near Cullompton in Devon. She has three siblings and second youngest among them. Her father has an import & an export business of fruits and nuts, whereas her mother worked as a Store manager till October 2004. She grew up listening to a wide range of music from 1960's and 1970's American R&B as well as Soul music by various artists including Aretha Franklin and Dusty Springfield, and developed a soulful style of singing like her idols.

Career Path

She became famous with her multi platinum debut album in 2003, The Soul Sessions, which was nominated for 2004 Mercury Prize. Then came her second album, Mind Body & Soul, which was again a multi platinum one, which topped the UK album Chart for the whole week and her single You Had Me remained in the top ten lists for quite long. This was her most successful single which stayed on the list of the UK Singles Chart till date. Both her album and the single got nominated for the Grammy Awards in 2005. Apart from this she also got nominated for the Best New Artist in Sound in 2004 by an annual BBC poll of music critics and was ranked fifth.

She became the youngest British female single to top the UK Album chart. Then came her third album, Introducing Joss Stone, which was released in March 2007, it achieved the gold record status by the RIAA. It was the second highest ever debut for a British female single artist on the Billboard 200, also it became Stone's one of the top five albums in the US. After this Colour Me Free, the fourth album came in the market in October 2009, which reached the top 10 list on Billboard. On 22 July, 20011, she released her fifth album, LP1 which again reached the top 10 of Billboard list. You can see her performance on YouTube.

She also started working in movies; her first movie was Eragon in 2006. Then she came on TV series as Anne of Cleves in the Tudors in 2009. She has several upcoming tours where you can enjoy her live performance.

She has won several awards for her talent including the Brit Awards in 2005 for Best British Female Artist and for Best British Urban Act. She got nominated five times for Grammy Awards and won one of them.

Till date she has successfully sold 14 million albums across the world and has become one of the best selling artists of the time, best selling British artist of her time and best selling soul artists of the 2000's.

She is the youngest woman on the 2006 Sunday Times Rich List with £6 million. In 2012, her net worth was estimated around £10 million, which made her the fifth richest British Musician under 30. Currently, she is not dating anyone and has no plans to get married soon.
