She grew up in Schenectady, New York, and attended Niskayuna High School, where she played for the school's basketball team. Fagan became the all-time leading scorer in the school’s basketball history, showcasing early on her athletic talent and love for the sport.
She then attended the University of Colorado, where she played college basketball for the Buffaloes. Despite suffering an injury during her freshman year, she had a successful collegiate career.
