Kaya Scodelario

On March 13, 1992, in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, England, an actress, Kaya Scodelario was born. As a child, Kaya Scodelario endured the difficulty of growing up in a broken home when her mother, Katia Scodelario (a Brazilian) and father, Roger Humphrey divorced. Early Life and Training

Even though her nationality is British, Kaya learnt Portuguese and speaks it fluently because of her early exposure to life in Brazil. She attended the Islington Arts and Media School in London where she experienced bullying in proportions that, perhaps affected her self esteem. However, the low respect she had for herself turned out to be the trigger of her passion to become an actress.

Career

Kaya made her debut in film with the British science fiction drama ‘Film Moon’ in 2009 where she played the role of Eve. Prior to this, she had appeared for the first time in a TV show when she played Effy Stonem in the E4 teen drama show ‘Skins.’ She featured in the show between 2007 and 2010. Though she became famous for that role, the initial stage was not without troubles. Kaya was highly discouraged during the auditions for the programme, feeling that at age 14, she was too young. But a persistent producer convinced her to stay but to read intensely for the role she was playing. She was given roles with few speaking scenes at first, but she grew into the series and became the central character by 2009.

In 2010, she played the role of Peshet in the film ‘Clash of the Titans,’ was Tasha in ‘Shank’ and Catherine Earnshaw in ‘Wuthering Heights.’ Between 2012 and 2015, she acted in the movies: ‘Now is Good,’ ‘Twenty8k,’ ‘Spike Island,’ ‘The Truth About Emmanuel,’ ‘The Maze Runner,’ and ‘Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials.’ The Year 2013 was a busy one for Kaya as she played the role of Anna in four episodes of the mini TV series ‘South Cliffe’ and Sara Campbell in eight episodes of the web series ‘Walking Stories.’ She has appeared in music videos including: ‘Stay too Long,’ ‘She Said,’ and ‘Love Goes Down’ by Plan B.

The beautiful actress, renowned for her thin body frame and wide blue eyes won the Ashland Independent Film Award for Best Acting Ensemble in her role in ‘The Truth About Emmanuel’ in 2013. She has been nominated for several awards.

Aside acting, Kaya is a model. She has modeled for magazines like: Teen Vogue, Nylon, Dazed and Confused, Elle UK, Instyle UK and Vogue. She was ranked 13th in the UK edition of the 100 World’s Sexiest Women of the Year 2010.

Personal Life

The part of her biography that also makes for interesting reading is what she has been doing in her private, behind the scenes life. She has been in a number of relationships. Dated Jack O’Connell, a co-star of ‘Skins’ for about a year and they split in 2009, but remaining good friends. She also became involved in a relationship with Elliot Tittensor and stood by him after his arrest for involvement in an accident with an uninsured car.

Kaya eventually got married to co-star Benjamin Walker in December 2015, a year after their engaged in December 2014. Kaya announced in June 2016 that her husband and her were expecting their first child. The sexy actress and model has raked in some good wealth, with her net worth estimated to be about $5 million.
