Early Life and Education
Kelli Giddish was born in 1980 in Cumming, Georgia. She is the daughter of Charles and Eli Giddish. Her paternal grandfather, Ralph L. Giddish, served in the United States Army and was a World War II veteran. He played a significant role in nurturing her interest in acting, often taking her to performances at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. Her maternal grandmother, Dosia Hildebrand, also supported her passion for the performing arts.

Giddish attended Forsyth Central High School, graduating in 1998. During her time there, she won the Best Actress award at the 1997 One Act Competition and was named the State Literary Champion for Girls Dramatic Interpretation. She went on to study at the University of Evansville in Indiana, graduating with honors with a degree in Theatre Performance. After college, she moved to Manhattan to pursue a career in acting.
Television Career: Law & Order and Beyond
Kelli Giddish is best known for her role as NYPD Detective Amanda Rollins on the long-running NBC legal crime drama series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, a character she portrayed from 2011 until 2022. Her portrayal received acclaim for adding depth and complexity to the show's ensemble cast.
Prior to her role on SVU, she gained attention as Di Henry on the ABC soap opera All My Children. She also starred in the Fox crime drama Past Life as Kate McGinn and in NBC's police procedural Chase as U.S. Marshal Annie Frost, although both series were short-lived. Her television appearances also include guest roles in Without a Trace (as Ariana Murphy), Life on Mars (as Carol), The Good Wife, Chicago Fire, and Chicago PD.
