Ken Leung was born on 21 January 1970 in New York to Chinese parents Wang-Gang Leung and Kim- Chong Lui. He was in his mother's womb when his parents moved to the USA. They did so for business reasons as well as giving his son the best environment to live in. He was named Kenneth Leung at first which he later changed to Ken Leung as people had problems pronouncing his name. His parents are of Chinese ethnicity. He was bought up in Two Bridges and Midwood, Brooklyn which he remembers and loves to this date. He had interests in acting and singing from a very young age. He was enrolled in to Pierre English Boarding for his primary education but was later transferred to Old Bridge High School as he wasn't comfortable there and hardly talked to any of his classmates and teachers. He did his graduation from the Old Bridge and later went to New York University to do a major in Fine Arts. At this point in time he was sure of having an acting career in one way or the other and he focussed solely on that.
He graduated with some well know actors Cathy Russell and Nan Smithner in 1995. After completing his fine arts degree he started looking for acting roles in small screen shows and advertisements. He did some small roles before getting a role in the movie Rush Hour. He did this movie with Jackie Chan. This was a very successful movie and through it people all over the globe came to know about the acting skills of Ken. Later he also got a role in the famous TV series Law and Order which he couldn't refuse. In 2006 he appeared in the blockbuster movie X-Men in which he played the role of Kid Omega. This movie was a very big hit and earned lots of money worldwide for its great CGI and story.

He has a strong control of his emotions and because of this, he is able to portray any kind of emotions on the screen. In 2007 he was awarded for his Breakout performance in the San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival for the movie Shanghai Kiss. In 2008 he played Miles Straume in the famous TV series Lost.
