Kenny Albert

Kenny Albert, born on February 2, 1968, in New York, is a prominent American sportscaster known for his versatile work across major professional sports leagues in the United States and Canada, including the NFL, NBA, MLB, and NHL. He is notably the only sportscaster who has regularly covered play-by-play roles in all four of these leagues. He is the son of legendary broadcaster Marv Albert.

Early Exposure to Broadcasting

Kenny’s passion for sportscasting began in childhood. At the age of five, his father gifted him a tape recorder, encouraging him to practice calling games. This early exposure laid the foundation for his future in sports media.

On his sixth birthday, Kenny attended a New York Rangers game. Coincidentally, one of the team's statisticians had to leave mid-game, and Kenny was offered the opportunity to help keep statistics. This experience marked the beginning of his active involvement in the sports broadcasting world.

Teenage Years and Early Career Development

Inspired by his father and determined to follow in his footsteps, Kenny began working in an official capacity at an early age. By 14, he was the official radio statistician for the New York Rangers, and at 16, he started writing content for the Rangers’ game-day programs.

Education and Professional Beginnings

Kenny Albert pursued broadcasting and journalism at New York University, earning his degree in 1990. While at NYU, he gained hands-on experience working in the sports department of WNYU Radio, further developing his broadcasting skills.

MLB, NFL, and NHL Play-by-Play Coverage

Following his graduation, Kenny's career progressed steadily. He became the radio play-by-play announcer for the New York Rangers, continuing his long-standing association with the team. His expertise extended to Major League Baseball (MLB), where he served as a play-by-play commentator for Fox Sports. He also worked as a field-level reporter for NFL games and the Sugar Bowl championships. Additionally, he contributed to NBC’s NHL broadcasts, showcasing his adaptability across different networks and formats.
