Kim Hee-chul, known professionally as Heechul, was born on July 10, 1983, in Hoengseong County, Gangwon Province, South Korea. He initially studied English tourism translation at Sangji Youngseo College, earning a bachelor’s degree. He later obtained another bachelor's degree in informatics from Sangji University through the Bachelor's Degree Examination for Self-Education, a government-administered program that allows individuals to earn academic degrees without formal classroom attendance.
At the age of 20, Heechul moved to Seoul to audition for SM Entertainment during one of their open castings. He was selected and subsequently signed as an official trainee. During his trainee period, Heechul underwent intensive instruction in singing, dancing, and acting, preparing for a multifaceted career in the entertainment industry.
Heechul debuted as a member of Super Junior on November 6, 2005 (not November 2, as previously mentioned), as part of its original lineup. Super Junior launched with twelve members and quickly rose to prominence as one of the leading K-pop groups. The band achieved significant commercial success and was among the best-selling K-pop acts for several years. They have received numerous accolades, including multiple awards from the Mnet Asian Music Awards, earning recognition for both musical achievements and influence in global K-pop culture.

Heechul’s influence extends into advertising as well; he has endorsed numerous brands within and outside South Korea, including Lotte Corporation’s Pepero, a popular chocolate-dipped cookie stick commonly exchanged during Pepero Day on November 11.
