Who is Kim Hee-Chul?

Kim Hee-Chul, known professionally as Heechul, is a South Korean singer, songwriter, presenter, and actor who is known for his membership in the boy group Super Junior. Super Junior, which debuted with twelve members, was the best selling K-Pop group for four years in a row and has earned thirteen different music awards from the Mnet Asian Music Awards. Kim Hee-Chul was born on July 10, 1983, in Hoengseong County, Gangwon Province, South Korea. Heechul attended Sangji Youngsoe College where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English tourism translation. Heechul also earned a bachelor’s degree from Sangji University in informatics through Bachelor’s Degree Examination for Self-Education, an examination administered by the government which makes it possible to obtain a bachelor’s degree without attending a college or university.

Heechul moved to Seoul when he was twenty years old to participate in SM Entertainment’s open auditions; he was cast and signed a contract with SM Entertainment as an official trainee, receiving training in singing, dancing, and acting. Heechul was selected, along with other members of SM Entertainment, to be in the first generation of Super Junior. The group made their official debut on November 2, 2005. Heechul is also a popular endorser of a wide range of brands inside and outside of South Korea including Lotte Corporation’s Pepero, a cookie stick dipped in chocolate.
