Kim Woo Bin is a South Korean actor who began his career as a runway model. Kim Woo Bin was born Kim Hyun-joong on July 16, 1989, in Seoul, South Korea. Kim had wanted to be a model since being in high school and debuted as a runway model in 2009 at the age of twenty. He made appearances as a model in prêt-a-porter and Seoul Fashion Week collections. Kim also started doing commercial films and began studying acting, under the guidance of acting coach Moon Won-joo.
Kim made his acting debut in 2011, starring in the mystery drama White Christmas, a South Korean television series. In 2013, Kim appeared in two hit dramas and starred in one film, Friend: The Great Legacy, which was the sequel to Kyung-taek’s 2001 box office hit. Kim is the winner of many awards for both modeling and acting including the Hana Financial Group Star Award, a popularity award, at the 51st Grand Bell Awards, for his work in Friend: The Great Legacy.
Kim Woo Bin has been in a relationship with model and actress Shin Min-a, who is best known for her work in the television dramas Oh My Venus (2015), and Tomorrow, With You (2017). In 2017, Kim announced that he would halt all performances due to a diagnosis of Nasopharyngeal cancer, for which he would undergo both drug and radiation treatments.
