Kristina Sunshine Jung is the daughter of the famous drug smuggler George Jung and his ex-wife Mirtha Jung. George Jung, who has been nicknamed Boston George and El Americano, is a former drug trafficker and member of the Medellin Cartel who played a prominent role in the cocaine trade in the United States during the 1970’s and early 1980’s. The Medellin Cartel originated in the Columbian city of Medellin and was responsible for eighty five percent of the cocaine smuggled into the United States. Kristina Sunshine Jung was born on August 1, 1978. Kristina had a rough childhood as her mother was a drug addict and her father was a criminal who spent much of his time in prison. The 2001 movie Blow, which stars Johnny Depp, was directed by Ted Demme and depicts the story of how George Jung and Pablo Escobar established the cocaine market in the 1970s in the United States.
The movie was based on the 1993 book, Blow: How a Small Town Boy Made $100 Million with the Medellin Cartel and Lost it All, which was written by Bruce Porter. Kristina Sunshine Jung was married to Romain Karan and the couple has a daughter named Athena Romain Karan. Kristina’s father was released from prison in 2014 and the two have been working on reconciling their relationship.
