Early Life and Family

Kroy Biermann was born in Hardin, Montana. He comes from a family where all members have names beginning with the letter "K," a tradition initiated by his mother. Wanting a unique name for her son while honoring this tradition, Biermann's mother found "Kroy" in a phone book after being unsatisfied with common names starting with "K."

High School Achievements

While attending Hardin High School, Biermann earned eight varsity letters: three in football, three in wrestling, and two in track and field. He was a two-time team captain and first-team All-State linebacker during his junior and senior years. Additionally, he was selected as First Team All-Conference running back for the 2002 and 2003 seasons. Biermann also competed in Montana’s Annual East-West Shrine Game.

In wrestling, he stood out as one of Montana’s top athletes at the Class A level, finishing second in the state during both his junior and senior years. As a senior, he served as the wrestling team captain, led in take-downs and pins, and was voted the team’s Most Valuable Wrestler.

College Football at the University of Montana

Kroy Biermann played college football for the University of Montana Grizzlies, appearing in 52 games throughout his collegiate career. He amassed impressive statistics, recording 220 tackles, 32 sacks, 45 tackles for loss, nine forced fumbles, and seven fumble recoveries.

As a true freshman in 2004, he played in 14 games and registered seven tackles, including one for a loss. By 2006, he had emerged as a key defensive player, recording 78 tackles, 11 sacks, and 13.5 tackles for loss across 14 games. His standout performance earned him several honors, including Walter Camp First-Team Small College All-American and Second-Team Little All-American selections by both the Associated Press and The Sports Network. He was also named First-Team All-Big Sky Conference.
