Krystal Jung is an American singer and actress based in South Korea who is known for her membership in the South Korean girl group f(x). Krystal Jung, who is professionally known as Krystal, was born Chrystal Soo Jung on October 24, 1994, in San Francisco, California. Krystal started her professional career in 2002 by appearing in television commercials. She joined S.M. Entertainment in 2006 and the agency enrolled her in dance classes, which she took for three years, before debuting her as part of f(x) in 2009. f(x) released their first studio album, Pinocchio, in 2011; the band had three number one singles on the Gaon Digital Chart (the standard record chart in South Korea for singles) by 2012. f(x) is one of the few K-pop groups to be recognized internationally and was the first K-pop group to appear at the annual South by Southwest music festival held in Austin, Texas.
In June of 2014, Krystal and her sister were featured on the reality show, Jessica & Krystal, which chronicled the professional and personal lives of the famous sisters. Krystal had been romantically involved with K-pop group EXO member Kai, but the two have recently separated. In 2018, Krystal appeared in the Orion Cinema Network’s television series Player and the Chinese movie Unexpected Love.
