Born in September 11, 1953 in Quincy Massachusetts, Lesley Candace Visser resides at present at New York City with her husband Robert Kanuth, who is a business man and ex-Harvard basketball captain. She was earlier married to sportscaster Dick Stockton, who had worked for Fox sports and NBA. They separated in 2010. Visser suffered a hip and face injury, when she slipped and fell while jogging in Central Park, New York. She had to undergo surgery on her face and also a hip replacement surgery later on.

Visser started her career in sports reporting in the year 1974, as member of Boston Globe Sports staff and later covered the New England Patriots, becoming the first female NFL beat writer. She joined CBS Sports in the year 1984 and became a regular presenter in 1987. In 1992, she was the first woman to present the post-game presentation ceremony of Super Bowl. She was also a regular at NFL TODAY of CBS Sports. She has also served for HBO Sports show, Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel. She also worked at ABC Sports for seven years and served as sideline reporter for the Monday Night Football show, becoming the first woman to be assigned to the series and to report from the sidelines.

Visser has been honored with numerous awards and accolades during her distinguished career as sportscaster and writer. Her awards and recognitions include Billie Jean King Award for Outstanding Journalism in 2008, Gracie Allen Award for her contribution to sports. In 2008, she became the first woman sportscaster to anchor the Gracie Awards ceremony. Her other awards include Emily Couric Leadership Award and Pop Warner Female Achievement award. In 2005, she was inducted into the New England Sports Museum Hall of Fame.
Lesley Visser has the distinction of being the only sportscaster male or female to have worked in the Network broadcast of The Super Bowl, The Triple Crown, The NBA Finals, The Olympics, The U.S Open, The Final Four, and the World Figure Skating Championship. She is also the first woman sportscaster to carry the Olympic torch. She was voted as one of the top ten Pioneers of Women’s Sports by the magazine ‘USA Today’. She has also been named as one of the 100 Luminaries in CBS History.
