Domestic:

In 2007, Liam played three list A matches. In his debut match, he scored 32 runs and was not able to take any wickets. In 2008, at Trent Bridge, he score his first century against Nottinghamshire. In 2009, he got selected for England lion’s squad to face The Kiwis. He was part of 2009 Friends Provident Trophy winning team. In 2010, Liam got chance to play only 8 championship matches and had average of 29 with his bat. In 2011, He had a good year with his bat. He was able to maintain average of over 35 in championship and List A matches.  Liam came up as a solid batsman after his performance in 2011.

In 2012, Liam tried his luck as a bowler for Hampshire. He was able to take 26 wickets with an average of 32.He also became a part of T20 squad and took 9 wickets. In 2013, Liam made his 1000 runs in first class cricket. His showed an outstanding performance in T20 format. He got 29 wickets in the Championship matches, and 12 wickets in List A matches as he focusing more on his bowling and it began to improve in the year 2015.

International:

In 2016, Liam was selected for international squad for ICC world T20. But unfortunately he didn’t get to play any match. In the same year he got a chance to play against Sri Lanka in a T20 game and took 3 wickets, helping England to win. He also made his debut in ODI against Pakistan took two wickets and scored 10 runs, but England lost the match by 4 wickets. In November 2016, he got selected for Test match series against India. He scored 66 runs in his debut match and also got 2 wickets. England lost this match by 75 runs and an inning. Dawson also played in second T20I match against India, and was not able to take any wickets.

Liam has played 2 test matches in his international career and scored 129 runs and has taken 2 wickets as well. Liam has played only 1 international ODI and has scored 70 runs and got 2 wickets. Also, in T20 he has played 2 matches and has scored 47 runs and took 3 wickets.
