Things have been looking good for Lil Mo and now husband Karl; as of August 29, 2015, Mo gave birth to a baby boy Karl Dargan Jr.
Early in her musical career, she had the lucky break of being introduced to Missy Elliot. Missy was immediately intrigued by Lil Mo's voice, and Lil Mo was able to land a recording contract with Elektra Records. Following this encounter, Lil Mo began working closely with Missy Elliot on her new album and throughout her early career.
After years of touring with Missy, working on her album, and collaborating with others on theirs, she worked with many artists. From Ja Rule, Missy Elliot, Ol Dirty Bastard, is responsible for underground rapper Fabolous making it mainstream.
Her most notable work and highest-ranked hits were on Missy Elliots 'Hot Boyz', featured on Ja Rules 'Put it on me' and 'I Cry.' But Lil Mo wanted her hit song. After years of successful collaborations, Lil Mo hit it big with the single, 'Superwoman Pt. II'. The single hit the #11 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 list.
On June 26, 2001, Lil Mo's debut album, 'Based on a True Story, was released to mostly favorable reviews. Also, the album peaked at #14 on the Billboard 200 list and attained a gold certification from the RIAA, making it Lil Mo's most successful album to date.
In the following years, Lil Mo released four more albums, none of which saw the same success as her first.
