Early Life and Musical Influences

Lil Mosey was born and raised in Mountlake Terrace, a suburb of Seattle, Washington. He developed an early interest in hip-hop, sparked when he was just nine years old. His older brother, Quinnell, played a key role in shaping Mosey’s musical tastes, introducing him to artists like Joey Bada$$, Iamsu!, and Soulja Boy. These early exposures helped cultivate his passion for rhyming and beat-driven music.

Developing a Unique Sound

During his middle school years, Mosey became deeply invested in rap music. He admired influential artists such as 50 Cent, Nas, and Meek Mill, whose styles helped inspire his own lyrical direction. By the eighth grade, he began searching for free instrumentals on YouTube to write lyrics to—an early and important step in developing his signature rap flow and melodic cadence.

Emergence and First Releases

Lil Mosey’s first attempt at recording music resulted in the track “Duplicate,” which he created using the instrumental from Desiigner’s hit song “Panda.” He recorded the track in his bedroom and uploaded it to SoundCloud. Despite being an independent release from an unknown teenager, “Duplicate” received several thousand plays, offering early encouragement and validation for his musical ambitions.

As his profile grew, Lil Mosey gained recognition for his melodic delivery and youthful energy. With a rapidly expanding fanbase—many of whom are underage—Mosey has publicly acknowledged the importance of setting a positive example.
