Early years and education

Linzie Janis was born in Schaumburg, Illinois, on June 23, 1979 and is of German descent. Janis earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communication fom the University of Arts London in London, England. She currently holds a dual citizenship from both the United States and the United Kingdom.

Professional life

In her long career as a journalist, Linzie Janis has covered diverse topics including business, world economy, debt crisis, war, Iraq War, and weather. Prior to ABC, the American journalist anchored a daily business news broadcast on Bloomberg TV from London, the city where she started her career at CNN International as a reporter and producer. She is also credited for her CEO's interviews during her tenure at Bloomberg. Janis earned an Emmy Award for breaking news coverage on the Pulse nightclub shooting in Orlando. Janis was among the first reporters to view the damage in the United States Virgin Islands after Hurricane Irma and she reported on the return of American college student Otto Warmbier from North Korea. . She was the first TV journalist to interview Hulk Hogan after he won his legal battle with Gawker Media. In 2013, Janis broke the story about the New York Attorney General suing Trump University and interviewed some of the alleged victims of fraud. Janis has also reported from overseas covering important international stories including the W20 Summit and first daughter Ivanka Trump’s trip to Berlin. She has reported on stories as varied as the birth of the second royal baby in London, England to the terror attack in Nice, France.

Janis joined ABC News is 2013 where she reports on Good Morning America, World News Tonight with David Muir, Nightline, and 20/20. Janis recently spent time reporting on the economy and especially the wild swings in the stock market earlier this year. Janis attributed the thousand point one day drop to President Donald Trump’s tax cuts saying “Tonight, some economists also say the President's tax cuts could actually be adding to all of this, by stimulating an already improving economy. And the question, who pays for those cuts later on?” Co-anchor David Muir had this to add “And as the White House was riding out this latest storm, traders on Wall Street were riding out the latest plunge on the Dow. The stock market, once again, in a freefall today,” he also begged the question “And what does it mean for your retirement, your 401(k)?”'
