Early Life and Background

Heidi Klum was born and raised in Bergisch Gladbach, a town near Cologne, Germany. Her mother, Erna Klum, was a hairdresser, while her father, Günther Klum, worked as an executive at a cosmetics company. Encouraged by a friend, she entered the “Model 92” contest, where she emerged as the winner out of 25,000 contestants. This victory earned her a $300,000 modeling contract, launching her career in the fashion industry.

Modeling Career and Rise to Fame

Heidi Klum gained international recognition as a model, notably becoming the first German model to be named a Victoria’s Secret Angel in 1999. In addition to her Victoria’s Secret work, she appeared on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, enhancing her profile as a global fashion icon. She also served as a spokesmodel for major brands such as H&M and Dannon, and featured in advertising campaigns for companies including Volkswagen and McDonald’s.

Transition to Television and Business

Following a successful modeling career, Klum transitioned into television and business. She became the host and executive producer of Germany’s Next Topmodel and the popular reality competition Project Runway. For her work on Project Runway, she earned several Primetime Emmy Award nominations and won the award for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program.

Klum also expanded into acting, with appearances in films like Blow Dry, Ella Enchanted, and cameos in The Devil Wears Prada and The Life and Death of Peter Sellers. Her television guest roles include appearances on Parks and Recreation, How I Met Your Mother, and Sex and the City. In recent years, she has been a judge on the NBC reality competition show America’s Got Talent.
