Born in the early 1970s in Brooklyn, New York City, New York, United States of America, Maino’s birth name is Jermaine Coleman. He spent most of his childhood days growing up in borough’s Bedford-Stuyvesant and had two drug-addicted parents. He is an American by nationality and belongs to American as well as African descent. During his childhood days, he lacked parental guidance as well as support, which led him to choose the wrong path of crimes. In his early 20s, he got involved in drug trafficking. Later, he was charged with a kidnapping a drug dealer and was sentenced to 10-15 years in the prison. It was there in prison that his interest in rapping was ignited. During his long years in prison, he got interested in rapping to escape boredom and loneliness. He listened to rappers like Jay-Z, Notorious B.I.G. etc. during his prison days and this motivated him to pursue rapping.

After spending around a decade in prison, he was acquitted in the year 2003, and he went on to establish Hustle Hard Entertainment, which was his own record label. He went on to release many mixtapes and even enjoyed an airplay on N.Y.C radio. His singles like Rumors and Take It like a Man from his mixtapes went on to become very popular and got him noticed by several record labels. In the year 2005, he managed to grab the attention of Universal Records and he signed with them. His contract with the record label eventually ended as his debut album titled Death Before Dishonor never got released by the label. In the year 2007, he left Universal Records. His first single from his debut album titled If Tomorrow Comes… was released in the same year which was titled Hi Hater. He then went on to release another song titled All the Above and it became his first song ever to grab a position on the Billboard Hot 100. This single remains one of the most popular songs of Maino. In the same year, he went on to make a song for the game Grand Theft Auto IV.

In the year 2012, he went on to release his second album titled The Day after Tomorrow. Although, it couldn’t recreate the magic of his debut album, the singles of this album like Let It Fly went on to become hit. Before this album, he also released an ER titled Unstoppable in the year 2010. He also formed a group named The Black Flag Mafia and went on to produce a mixtape in the year 2012. He also release a single title Crazy with the singer Erika Jayne in the year 2015 and it went on to become a big hit.

He is one of those celebrities who like to keep their personal life out of the eyes of the public. There is no information about him being married or having a wife. There is no news of any divorce or children as well. According to his biography, his net worth as well as salary is pretty high.
