Background

Malcolm Turnbull was raised in Vaucluse and Double Bay in the 1950s and 1960s. For the majority of his childhood, his father, Bruce, was a single parent that had to raise Malcom on his own.

Malcolm got his primary education at Vaucluse Public School and Sydney Grammar School. His high school education at Sydney Grammar was assisted by a scholarship because it was a private school that Malcom’s father would have not been able to afford on his own. The education was an important factor in Malcom’s future career.

Career

During his political career, Turnbull served twice as Leader of the Liberal Party. He first served from 2008 to 2009 when he was also Leader of the Opposition. His second term as Leader was from 2015 to 2018.

Personal Life

Malcolm and his loving wife Lucy have both lived in Wentworth all their lives. Even after getting married, they decided raised their family in their hometown. They could have planted new roots elsewhere in the country but they enjoy the strength and the diversity of their local community and neighbors.
