Most Hollywood actors say that they knew since they were little that they wanted to be actors. This is not the case for Malin Akerman. She first started as a model and was part of some advertising campaign deals. When she was 12, she decided to quit. When she was 16, she was discovered by the modeling agency Ford Models in a shopping mall. She signed a contract with them and gained a contract with Noxzema, a skincare company. She attended North Toronto Collegiate Institute in Toronto and later Dante Alighieri Academy.

In the beginning, she wanted to become a psychologist for children; to do that, she needed to attend college to get her degree. First, she paid for her studies with the commercial she used to do. Due to them, she was offered minor roles in different TV series. At first, she did them to pay for her studies, but she ended up liking them. She decided to drop out of school to pursue her acting career. In 2001 she moved to Los Angeles, California.

Personal Life

Kerman, born in Sweden and raised in Canada, has shown "conflicting feelings" for both countries. In an interview with the Toronto Star, she added, "Every time I visit Canada, I am reminded of my Swedish heritage, and every time I visit Sweden, I am reminded of my Canadian heritage. Both places are home to me, and I adore them both." She is a Swedish citizen but not a Canadian citizen, as she lives in Canada permanently. In October 2018, she became an American citizen. She is fluent in English, Swedish, and French, as well as French and Spanish.

In 2003, Kerman met Italian musician Roberto Zincone while the main singer for The Petalstones, for whom he was the drummer. They regularly socialized after band rehearsal, with Zincone using a dictionary because he didn't understand English. They ultimately began dating and married in June 2007 in Sorrento.

Sebastian Zincone, their son, was born in 2013. Zincone filed for divorce later that month after the pair split up in November 2013. Kerman confirmed her engagement to English actor Jack Donnelly in October 2017. In December 2018, they tied the knot in Tulum. Kerman has a lotus blossom tattoo on her upper back, which she got due to her Buddhist upbringing.

She also has a tattooed "Z" on her right wrist, which she acquired as a wedding gift from Zincone. "I get horrified when I have to do table reads with the whole cast because there's a lot of stuttering coming from me, so I have to do a lot of prep," Kerman said. She tends to improvise her lines as a result of this.
