Marcela Valladolid

Apart from her numerous television appearances Valladolid has also written two books till date. In August 2009, she published her first book on cooking which specialised in Mexican flavours and was titled: ‘Fresh Mexico: 100 Simple Recipes for True Mexican Flavour’. The book earned positive reviews from the people and the critics. As the back cover of the book reads, what led Marcela to author this book, was her need to get in touch with her first experiences of the easy-to-make foods that were rich with the traditional Mexican taste. Such a desire is easy to understand, given that after diving so deep in the art of cooking, she found herself dealing more and more with complex ingredients that were constantly being added to her recipes.

After the said first success, she started second book, ‘Mexican Made Easy’, which was inspired by her respective show and was released in January 2010. Both her show and her book were highly acclaimed and the latter was later presented in San Diego. In addition, her show projected that the Mexican food did not necessarily had yellow cheese, a revelation that surprised many of her fans and readers.

According to her official site chefmarcela.com, she is getting ready to release a third book that will circulate under the title ‘Casa Marcela: Recipes and Food Stories of My Life in the Californias’. Pre-orders are already available and a description found on Amazon concerning the content of the book reads that this is her “most personal collection of recipes yet, a reflection of her experience growing up in Tijuana and traveling back and forth to San Diego to see family and friends and for school. This book captures a culture centered around food, loved ones, and gatherings with mouthwatering recipes and in vibrant photography, all shot at Valladolid's home.”

What makes her third and latest book more interesting is the reviews given by fellow chefs and restaurant owners. One in specific, given by Katie Lee, cookbook author and Valladolid’s fellow Food Network host reads: “One of the greatest bonuses of The Kitchen has been getting to know Marcela. This is a woman who truly does it all, making it look so easy with style and grace, while having FUN. I have learned so much about Mexican cooking from her, and this cookbook is truly phenomenal. Make the sweet potato enchiladas and the jalapeño roasted chicken ASAP!”

Now, as for her personal life, Marcela has been married and divorces, allegedly to Fausto Gallard. Her ex-husband is a Mexican politician and the couple has two children. After her divorce she got in a relationship with Philip Button and the couple welcomed a little girl in 2015 named Ana. She has appeared along with her family on a television show. Her dedication and diligence towards her work has brought her huge money and respect. Her net worth is estimated around $500 thousand dollars but all sources referring to that kind of information are unofficial and fail include the necessary credentials, so take that last part with the regular grain of salt.
